Delete Your Account

Last updated: September 3, 2026

This page explains how to delete your account and associated data for be there — find your people (the "be there." app, published on Google Play and the App Store by Malcolm Labs and operated by Be There, LLC), and what happens to your data when you do.

Delete your account in the app

  1. Sign in and tap the gear icon (Settings) in the top bar.
  2. Under Account, tap Delete account.
  3. Type DELETE to confirm. Your account and the data listed below are deleted immediately — this cannot be undone.

Or request deletion by email

If you can't access the app, email hello@joinbethere.com from the email address on your account with the subject "Delete my account." We will verify the request and complete the deletion within 30 days. You can also email us to request deletion of specific data without deleting your whole account (for example, you can remove your profile photo in the app at any time yourself).

What is deleted

Deleting your account immediately and permanently removes:

  • Your profile, including your photo and anything you wrote about yourself.
  • Your questionnaire answers and the generated "Currents" profile content built from them.
  • Your notification history, notification preferences, and any registered push-notification devices.
  • Your active sign-in sessions on all devices.

Your account record itself is closed and anonymized: your name and email are replaced with non-identifying placeholders. Messages you posted in event and group rooms are permanently disassociated from your identity (they remain in the room without an author).

What is retained, and for how long

Consistent with Section 7 of our Privacy Policy, a limited set of records is retained after deletion, each kept only as long as the underlying obligation requires and then deleted:

  • Payment and transaction records, as required by tax and financial regulations. Card details live with our payment processor, Stripe; we hold only non-sensitive references.
  • A minimal record of the deletion itself (who requested it and when), kept for audit and to demonstrate compliance with deletion requests.
  • Safety reports and related records, where needed to protect members, resolve disputes, or comply with law.
  • Records we are legally required to keep, such as SMS consent records and communications logs required by our carriers and applicable law.
